If concentrated enough, these bacteria can reduce the oxygen in the water to a level that kills fish and other aquatic life. They can also indicate a higher risk of pathogens in the water. These pathogens cause diseases such as ear infections and gastroenteritis. The last thing we want as a community is sick children, but this is a real possibility if they are swimming in affected water.
A Humane Option for City Parks
